IMAGE Science Working Group Meeting

University of Liege
Liege, Belgium
03-04 May 2004

An IMAGE Science Working Group Meeting will be held 03-04 May 2004 at the Centre Spatial de Liege (CSL) of the Leige University of Belgium, hosted by Jean-Claude Gérard's group. The university has directions and maps on their web site in both French and English.

Travel

The meeting will take place at CSL which is somewhat outside the campus, it is building #B29 on a map of the Sart Tilman Scientific Park.

There are four train shuttles/hour between Brussels airport (Zaventem) and Brussels-north train station. from there, at least two trains/hour come to Liege (approximately a one hour ride). By car, the highway network connects the airport to the vicinity of the campus in about one hour. In addition to trains or rental car transportation, it is also possble to use a shuttle coach/taxi from the airport directly to the hotels. CSL most commonly uses the taxi company Unitax, tel. ++324 365 65 65/367 66 00. They suggest the following price from the railway station to the Liege Science Park (where CSL is located): 12 euros.

Lodging

The recommended hotel is the Holiday Inn which is on the same side of the Meuse river. Its location (about 4 km from CSL) makes it unnecessary to cross the city center. This is shown on a map of area hotels. There are also good, cheaper hotels, somewhat further away.

A substantial discount is available when reservations are made through their secretariat. The contact is Mrs. Laurette Fafchamps (lfafchamps@ulg.ac.be) at CSL. She is the person who will forward the reservation to the hotel of your choice. To request a reservation be made in your name, send a fax to Mrs. Fafchamps at ++32 4 367 56 13. The fax should include your name, dates of arrival and departure, number of people, credit card number and expiration date (to hold your room), your hotel selection from the provided list, and any special requests for the room. It is recommended you provide a first and second choice for hotel in the event that your first choice is not available.

Logistics

The following will be provided at the meeting:

  • Seating for 32 people with tables for laptops and documents. More seating can be added if necessary.
  • A viewgraph and digital projectors.
  • Power (220 V) for about 30 laptops.
  • Internet connections (8 wired, 30 wireless channels) for a total passband of 11 MB/s.
  • Drinks at breaks and sandwiches and drinks at lunch will be provided.
