The Astronomy Career Game
WIC image

I did pretty well in college physics and math courses, getting mostly Bs and As. I found the mathematics used in physics (especially quantum mechanics and dynamics) pretty hard going, but really loved the lab work.

Generally, I never really got into the A-range in physics, though my math grades were always As or high-Bs. I began to think that, given all the physics involved in astronomy, that perhaps this wasn't the best match for my talents. I might do better in Computer Science, some form of Engineering, or some subject I hadn't even thought about yet.

I decided, however, to go ahead and apply to graduate schools in astronomy just to see what would happen. If I didn't get accepted anywhere, I would spend the summer mulling things over, and next year perhaps go for a masters degree in some other area that astronomy or physics.
