What part of the solar cycle are we in right now in 1997?


We are currently at the inter-cycle minimum between Cycle 22 which ended in September, 1996 and the start of Cycle 23. 

Update October 2000:

By various measures, we are now at the peak of the sunspot cycle for Cycle 23. Below is a plot of the sunspot counts as of October 30, 2000:
