Dusk-side Outer Plasmaspheric Structure Observed in Global Images and In-situ M. Spasojevic, J. Goldstein, D. L. Carpenter, U. S. Inan B. R. Sandel, B. W. Reinisch, R. R. Anderson The Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUV) onboard the IMAGE spacecraft is providing the first global images of the structure and dynamics of the Earth's plasmasphere. Much of the past plasmaspheric research has relied on in-situ electron density measurements derived from radio-wave dynamic spectra which can provide high resolution, quantitative data but leave unanswered questions as to the global nature of the observed structure. We present a comparison of EUV global images of outer plasmaspheric structure in the dusk sector, including plasmatails, with 2-minute resolution dynamic spectra obtained by the Radio Plasma Imager on IMAGE. We can then use this comparison as a basis for further interpretation of the higher time resolution (8-second) measurements of electron density made by similiar technique by the CRRES satellite in 1990-1991. _______________ To be presented at the 2002 Spring A.G.U. Meeting, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., 28-31 May 2002
