INTRODUCTION

"Science is nothing but developed perception, interpreted intent, common sense rounded out and minutely articulated."
George Santayana, Philosopher, Essayist, Poet, and Novelist
1863 - 1952

The INSPIRE Project, Inc. reflects each component of George Santayana definition of science.  A space physicist who started wondering if students would be interested in exploring natural phenomena - "developed perception." The drawing of the first piece of equipment to listen to this phenomena on the back of a cocktail napkin at a wedding reception in San Francisco - "interpreted intent."  Identifying an audience with open minds, high school physics students, that you could learn with -"common sense rounded out."  Project materials developed and instruction begins - "minutely articulated."

This is exactly how the science of INSPIRE was created.  No frills.  This was hands on physics teaching providing measurable data that successfully peaked the interest of the students.

The study of science is serious.  However, it should also be fun, intriguing, creative and an insightful exploration of the world around us.  The INSPIRE Project, Inc. continues to keep these things in mind as it promotes the importance of education in the physical sciences and technology through broad and various project opportunities.
